It commemorates the Poles who – at the risk of their own lives – saved Jews doomed to death. It was named after the Ulma Family (Józef Ulma, his wife Wiktoria and their six children were murdered by German gendarmes on 24 March 1944, together with eight Jews hiding at the Ulmas). Other Poles in Markowa were able to to save 21 Jews. From its opening till September 2018, the museum recorded over 100 000 visitors.
